Warnborough began by offering American students the opportunity to study an Oxford style of education from their campus in Boars Hill just outside of Oxford. In these formative years, the college drew heavily on the support of its many friends, including the Garrison family. Dr Karl and Nancy Garrison were strong supporters of the college early on, providing a great amount of the aid and wisdom that became the foundation of the College’s continuing success.
Their daughter, Becky Garrison, was one of the early students who experienced Warnborough as an American studying abroad in Oxford. These days, however she is far better known as a freelance writer with a particular interest in religious satire. Formerly, she was a senior editor of the Wittenburg Door, a Christian satire and humour magazine that closed in 2008.
This has not however prevented Becky from a continued career as a published writer and editor with numerous books to her name including: Red and Blue God, Black and Blue Church, (Jossey Bass, 2006), Jesus Died for This?: A Satirist Searches for the Risen Christ (Zondervan, 2010), and most recently Love, Always: Partners of Trans People on Intimacy, Challenge and Resilience (Transgress Press, 2015). She is a prolific contributor to various media outlets having written for The Washington Post, The Guardian, American Atheist Magazine, Perceptive Travel, The Humanist and many more.
When not writing, she enjoys kayaking, fly-fishing, biking and light hiking.
